Lighting
We sell LED lights for lighting marine aquaria under the DuplaMarin brand. Corals not only feed on actively ingested nutrients, but receive some of the vital nutrients from symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae). Hard corals in particular feed mainly through the metabolism of their symbiotic algae, which are found in the surface of the coral tissue and use light to produce the necessary nutrients such as sugar, glycerol and amino acids. The coral needs some of these compounds for calcification, i.e. for building up the calcium carbonate skeleton. With a mix of white (7.500 Kelvin) and blue LEDs, the Ocean Lux LED has the perfect colour temperature for healthy coral growth and promotes the photosynthesis of the symbiotic algae. The balanced light mix makes for a bright and fluorescent blaze of colour for the lower fish and corals.
